I had to grab the chance to play one of my favourite Irish songs outside in the lovely spring sunshine! Here is a snippet of the joyous Sunburst by PictureHouse.
I’m delighted that my first original Christmas song, a co-write and duet with Carrie Haskins, is currently featured on the RTE Radio 1 Christmas Recommends playlist! It’s also been raising funds for the charity Alone (www.alone.ie). You can check out the video here, and if you would like to make a donation, you can do so via my music page on Facebook (www.facebook.com/gilliantuitemusic)
I was so excited to have my cover of James Taylor’s wonderful song Only One shared as a fan feature on his official Instagram page! I’ve been listening to his music since I was a kid and I count him as one of my biggest influences. Check out the video below. Just for fun, I’ve used my interaction with cartoon JT as the thumbnail! :-)
Thanks so much to everyone who downloaded ‘Who I Am Today’ and made it #1 in the iTunes Country chart in Ireland on October 1st! :-)
My new single ‘Who I Am Today’ will be released on October 1st (happy birthday to me!). As well as the usual online platforms, it will be available to download or stream on my media page. I can’t wait!
I spent some time this year working on my fingerstyle guitar skills, and I’ve been particularly inspired by the wonderful guitarist and teacher Muriel Anderson. Here is an excerpt of her tune ‘A Fine Pickle’, my first instrumental video!
In October 2018, I played a lovely show at The Ramor Theatre (Virginia, Co. Cavan) with Charlie McGettigan and Janice Igoe. Here is a clip of my performance of the beautiful country song ‘Dreaming My Dreams With You’, most associated with Waylon Jennings.
I recently visited with Charlie McGettigan in Leitrim on a sunny Spring morning to play some songs we wrote together. As usual, I was bowled over by his wonderful guitar playing. Here is a video of us performing ‘The Way You Smile’. I think you can tell it was a lot of fun!
I was delighted to be invited to Castledawson, Co. Derry to record a video with the lovely Donna and Joseph Murray at Sessions in the House. I performed my song ‘Ghosts in Lonely Halls’, accompanied by Joe on bass and backing vocals, and Colin Henry on dobro. It really was a wonderful experience and I’m so happy with the video!
My new single ‘The Way You Smile’ is available now! This is my second release from a recording session with Thomm Jutz in Nashville in the summer of 2018. I co-wrote the song with the wonderful Charlie McGettigan and the accompanying video is very special to me. Head on over to my media page to check it out!
On a Sunday afternoon in April in Dublin city, I took part in a Paul Simon tribute video series with local musicians Josh Johnston, Jane Willow, Adam Fleming, Rob Molumby and Marco Francescangeli. Here is my version of ‘Rene and Georgette Magritte With Their Dog After The War’.
I recently recorded a live version of ‘Anyone But You’ for The Rua Room on their visit from Belgium, in a lovely little snug in Temple Bar. You can visit my media page to hear the studio recording from my debut EP, featuring some stellar Irish musicians!
‘Something We Should Try’, co-written with Nashville songwriter Fred Koller, is available now to stream and download. I recorded the song in Nashville with the very fine musicians pictured here. Go to the media section of my site to have a listen and watch the music video!
In March 2019, I opened for the American artist Dana Cooper on his tour of Ireland. I had a wonderful time playing my songs across 6 counties, accompanied by one of my very favourite songwriters! We also recorded a live performance of my new song, which you can view here!
I’ve recently added some new shows to my schedule! Head over to the gigs section of the website if you would like to see where I’ll be playing over the coming months.
In November 2017, I performed at a Randy Newman tribute night ‘Nashville Sings Newman’ alongside artists such as Buddy Mondlock, Jon Vezner and Bill Lloyd. Here is my version of Randy Newman’s beautiful song ‘When She Loved Me’, live from Douglas Corner in Nashville.
